Open Evening Success

The schools of the AspirePlus Educational Trust have held their annual open evenings and they have been a resounding success. From all corners of the borough and beyond, parents of Year 6 students and their children came to see what our schools have to offer. These families were able to experience first-hand what secondary school life is like in an AspirePlus Trust school.

Rayner Stephens High School provided a fantastic showcase of all that the school has to offer. It was a hive of activity as families got a taste of the exciting lessons and varied opportunities that will be available to them if they choose Rayner Stephens. Turnout was excellent with over 360 families attending the event. Given the vibrant atmosphere evident, we are confident they left, not just with a goody bag, but a great impression of what an AspirePlus school community is like. Feedback from parents has been overwhelmingly positive.

During her presentation to families, Headteacher Fay Beach, spoke to families about the exciting start the new school has made as a founder member of the AspirePlus Educational Trust. She highlighted the benefits of belonging to the Trust and her own track record as a school leader with a record of outstanding leadership in leading change and establishing highly effective inclusive practice. In her presentation to parents she explained, ‘We have quickly established an academic and inclusive culture here at Rayner Stephens High School. A culture based on our core values, which inform all that we do. We have developed a curriculum and approaches to teaching and learning that support the progress of every individual student.’

Matthew Bowler, CEO of the AspirePlus Educational Trust was keen to recognise the importance of open evenings in the school calendar, saying ‘the organisation and delivery of such great nights takes extraordinary levels of commitment and enthusiasm from all involved. Thank you to the students, student leaders and our wonderful staff for all they have done to make these such successful and memorable nights. Thanks also to our prospective families who braved the elements to come and see what we have to offer. We look forward to welcoming our new Year 7 intakes at both AspirePlus Trust schools next year.’
