Role of the Form Tutor
The form tutor is a vital part of student’s life at Rayner Stephens. Students have daily contact with their Form Tutor, this allows Tutors to monitor the progress of their students in all aspects of school life. Form Tutors are there to help and support students and are the first point of contact for parents.
Form Time/PSHE Curriculum
Students attend form each morning for 15 minutes. They will have daily activities that include; Literacy, Mathematics, Current Affairs and DEAR (Drop everything and read). Once every two weeks the form group will complete a PSHE session, these lessons are planned to help young people develop fully as individuals, as members of families, social and economic communities.
Students in Year 8 will be expected to complete homework from each of their Subjects Teachers. Their teachers will set deadlines for each individual piece of work. There is also a homework club that takes place within school.
Students are encouraged to attend afterschool sessions which are offered to them across the curriculum. We also encourage students to take part in extra-curricular activities in a variety of subjects.
Year 8 have chosen their charity to be Willow Wood Hospice. Throughout the year we will hold events to raise money to donate to charity. Year 8 will also have the opportunity to go to Barcelona on a school trip which takes place in April 2018.
