Supporting SEND Students
We constantly strive to improve and adapt our inclusion provisions to ensure that students needs are met.
At Rayner Stephens High School, we are dedicated to creating an inclusive environment where every student can thrive. We provide support for students with a range of additional and complex needs, including:
- Cognition and Learning
- Communication and Interaction
- Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH)
- Physical and Sensory Needs
Our aim is to continually improve and adapt our inclusion provisions to ensure all students’ needs are fully met.
How We Identify Students Who Need Additional Support
We understand that every child is unique, and so are their needs. There are various ways we assess whether a student may require additional support. Our team works closely with teaching staff to identify any potential areas of need, using both internal and external assessment methods, including:
- NGRT Reading Tests (online)
- Teacher Curriculum Assessments
- Dyslexia and Dyscalculia Screening
- Specialist SEND Teacher Assessments
- Educational Psychology Assessments
In line with the SEND Code of Practice, we assess students in the following areas:
- Cognition and Learning
- Communication and Interaction
- Social, Emotional, and Mental Health
- Sensory and/or Physical Needs
If you believe your child may have special educational needs, please reach out to our team. We are here to help!
If you have any concerns or questions about your child's needs, please don't hesitate to contact our SENDCo or a member of the Inclusion team to discuss an assessment.
